The global clarion call for World Environment Day, “Inspired by Nature: For Climate, For Our Future. A Call for Climate Action for All,” highlights a profound truth that Sri M has long advocated: our inner evolution is inseparable from how we treat the environment around us. For The Satsang Foundation (TSF), environmental sustainability is a daily sadhana (spiritual practice), rather than being a seasonal checkbox.

Through an interconnected ecosystem of green initiatives: MyTree, Satsang Jal Seva Sangatan, My Bhoomi, and the Aviral Godavari Mission, TSF continues to transform ecological concern into grassroots action. As reported earlier in 2026, volunteers have intensified their hands-on efforts through innovative and sustained local projects, proving that nature-based solutions are the key to building a resilient future.

Shared Responsibility

Realizing that systemic change requires large-scale collaboration, TSF has actively partnered with various schools, communities, corporate entities and government offices.

TSF is investing in the future by training school students to become environment champions. Through special interactive projects, young minds learn to audit and modify their daily household habits, creating a ripple effect of conservation from classrooms to living rooms. With institutions as diverse as Nashik municipal-run schools to premier Cambridge institutions in Jalandhar, these joint projects have helped scale up environmental interventions, combining individual behaviour with institutional resources and civic infrastructure with the foundation’s dedicated volunteer network to execute impactful tree plantation, water conservation and waste management drives.

Under the Jal Seva initiative, water percolation and recharge structures, ponds and wells have been rejuvenated or created in not just metropolises but also for remote village communities that are facing dire water stressed situations, and these projects have been supported by individual donors as well as CSR contributions.

The philosophy of MyTree (Maitri) treats trees as living friends, not commodities. In perfect alignment with this year's focus on collective climate action, TSF volunteers have spent the early months of 2026 conducting community-led biodiversity projects. A unique initiative reported earlier this year involved creating and installing specialised nests suitable for small birds. By giving these birds a safe habitat, the project leverages natural behaviours: the birds become vital carriers of native plant seeds, naturally manage local pests, and rapidly restore balance to regional ecosystems.

A focal point of 2026 has been preparation for the upcoming Nashik Kumbh Mela in 2027 through the lens of the Aviral Godavari Mission. Volunteers have put in sustained involvement, weekend upon weekend, to create bandhaaras on Brahmagiri that will help to slow rain-water runoff, directing it into underground streams that contribute to forming the Godavari. Seeds and seedballs are also being prepared for dispersal, so that the green cover of Brahmagiri is restored, building on previous activities where 32,000 seedballs were prepared and dispersed. Simultaneously, the campaign for a plastic-waste-free Kumbh at Nashik continues, with the government also having picked up the theme.

Similarly, sustained volunteer effort in Madanapalle as a focal My Bhoomi project has helped to clear the area of non-degradable waste as well as effluents that were a health hazard to residents.

The central principle is that which is applied to spiritual practice as well: small efforts made daily contribute to major shifts over time.

A Call for Action for All

The environmental initiatives of The Satsang Foundation remind us that true climate action is born when human empathy aligns with ecological wisdom. Whether it is a corporate partnership greening a public space, a student reducing plastic waste at home, or a handcrafted nest welcoming birds back to the canopy, these actions form a unified shield for our collective future.

We look to nature as a living system that inspires us to live consciously, act urgently, and co-exist harmoniously, rather than merely as a resource to sustain us.
