The word ‘Upanishad’ is that which is learnt sitting close to the teacher with complete humility to understand the ultimate supreme truth. So the Gita itself is said to be an Upanishad. What is the content of the Upanishad? Brahma Vidya - knowledge or understanding of the Brahman, the supreme reality behind all phenomena that we see, the supreme reality which is in you and me and which pervades the entire universe. The understanding of that is known as Brahma Vidya.
