108 is considered a mystical number from ancient times because it is a multiple of nine. Nine is one number in this whole system, which, however big it becomes, you multiply nine with any number and if you add the total, it will still remain as nine. It is a symbol of that supreme Shakti or energy, which always remains constant, which can neither be subtracted nor reduced nor added.
