Don't identify your Atman with your mind, which gathers things, then loses them, has pain and sorrow. The Atman is Satchidananda, which means it is Sat,  Truth, Chit is consciousness and Ananda is bliss, which means that it is intrinsically blissful and doesn't need anything from outside to make it blissful because it is bliss itself.
