In the ancient texts, anything that is described universally in the macrocosm will also be linked to something in the microcosm, the human system. The root of the Aswatha tree is the bottom of the spine in the human system while the top is the head and is called Kailas – where Mahadeva sits. The main trunk is the spinal cord. The nerves that radiate are the branches, the organs to which they go and operate are the leaves, and the different centers or a cluster where certain operations take place are the chakras.
